In my practice I coach many incredible women, mostly moms, who don’t recognize their own brilliance. They are too busy doing for others, cooking, cleaning, caring, volunteering to know just how amazing and brilliant they are. They come to me innocent of their worth and their magnificent glow. They want to lose weight, open a new business, start a food pantry to cure hunger in their county but, they are more attuned to the ways they deem themselves not qualified than to how they are. Sound Familiar? It’s time to Wake Up and start living your life.
10 Principles for Living a WUM Life:
1. Recognize your worth. We all have an inner critic (commonly called our lizard brain) that is constantly feeding negative remarks bout our own abilities. Acknowledge your inner critic then dismiss the negative remarks. Who are you to take advice from a lizard?
2. Imagine it. Take a little while to think about what you really want. Not what your kids want or your husband wants or your parents or friends want but what you want. Write it down.
3. Be Fit. Exercise, eat healthy, you know what you need to do. Just do it.
4. Get a thick skin. When you go after what you want there will be some non-believers, doesn’t matter, you believe in you and that’s enough.
5. Keep Learning. Exercise your brain, it’s a muscle too. Learn something new everyday. Pursue your interests. Knowledge really is power.
6. Turn your dreams into goals. Don’t just be a daydreamer, turn those dreams into real goals. Give them legs and take baby step after baby step to acccomplish them. People will show up along the way to help you right when you need it most. Just start.
7. Put yourself first. Easier said than done you say? Then I beg you to at least treat yourself as well as you treat those you love. Make sure you get enough sleep, eat healthy and exercise. You wouldn’t want anything less for your family, don’t accept anything less for yourself.
8. Have a plan. Life comes at you fast and if you aren’t careful years will pass and you wake up and realize you haven’t done a thing to open that boutique, cure cancer, run that marathon, whatever your dream is.Caring for yourself and achieving goals are tougher to accomplish without a plan. Make one, contact me if you’d like help making one.
9. Get Organized and Stay that Way. Being organized saves you time, enough said.
10. Pay attention to magic. Extraordinary things are happening around you. There really is magic in this world. You just have to pay attention and notice.
