Make 2011 Your Year!
It’s that time of year again, the time when people think about the year that is behind them and the hopes for the year ahead. And, more often than not, most of us make a few new years resolutions. Sadly, alot of our new years resolutions look the same year after year, lose weight, save money etc…(see list below). If these are on your list I have a resolution for you to add to your list…Make this the year that you achieve these resolutions so you don’t find yourself in this same positon at the end of 2011. Let’s not let this be you ever again..okay?
The Top Ten Resolutions List (from Squidoo)
- Stop Smoking
- Get into a habit of being fit
- Lose Weight – the Battle of the Bulge
- Enjoy life more
- Quit Drinking
- Be more organized
- Learn something New
- Get out of debt
- Spend more time with family
- Help people
However, in this post I am not going to give you a guide on how to write new years resolutions or their corresponding goals. I’m not going to give you tips on effective weight loss or ideas for saving more money. No, I want to give you permission to think of yourself for a change and ask yourself a question I ask others often …”What do you want?”
Are your palms sweating? You know, like in math class in seventh grade when the teacher called on you and you didn’t know the answer. If that question leaves your head spinning and you find yourself running for the hills then let me ask you this..” How do you want to feel?” Is that a little easier?
How do you want to feel? Happy, loved, successful, smart, energetic what feeling do you want? Make 2011 your year. Answering this question will help you get in touch with your essential self…the real you. Making yourself happy will ultimately positively effect everyone around you.
How do you want to feel? What do you want? Whatever question you answer then and only then do I suggest you make some resolutions based on those answers followed by goals that will help you acheive your dreams. Answering these questions will help the resolutions stick! You must be specific, for instance:
If success is a feeling you want to feel then maybe one of your goals is something small like finishing a book. I’m not kidding! Smaller goals are more manageable and feeling the feeling you are craving will cause your sub conscious to want to find more ways to feel this incredible feeling! Other goals under this resolution of feeling success might be finishing a 5k, and, if you’re like other americans and you are looking to get fit this year then training for this goal would help with feeling successful and getting fit. Amazing. Starting a business, getting that promotion, finally getting that story published whatever goal you can imagine big and small who’s accomplishment would bring you the feeling of success!
